Glucose Tolerance 2H Tests

The following instructions are for patients attending a Glucose Tolerance Test.
 

You must make an appointment for this test. To make an appointment, please call 0508 LABTESTS, and make a note of your appointment time, date, and collection centre location. 

Glucose Tolerance Test Instructions:

• Patient to remain on a normal, unrestricted diet for at least 3 days prior to test.
• No significant illness for 2 weeks prior to test.
• Testing to be done in the morning only.  Prior to test, normal activity – but sitting quietly for 30 minutes before and during test.
• Fasting is required for a minimum of 10 hours but no longer than 16 hours.  Only drinks of water allowed.
• Smoking to be avoided for one hour before and during test.
• You will be at the Centre for 2½ hours, so please bring some reading or other activity to pass the time.
• Please bring list of current medications with you to the Collection Centre.
