Patient Test Instructions
For many of the standard tests Labtests offers, there is no patient preparation required. You can generally just arrive at one of our Collection Centres and provide your specimen. Some tests, especially fasting tests, will require you to be at a Collection Centre early in the day, or before you have breakfast. Normally your Health Practitioner will advise you of any special requirements for the type of test you are having.
Some of our more specialised tests including Mantoux, Skin Sensitivity Testing and Glucose Tolerance Testing, can only take place at certain Collection Centres and may require booked appointments. For further information, or bookings, please call 0508 LABTESTS (0508 522 837).
Some of our tests do require patient preparation. To assist with these specific tests, we provide Patient Test Instructions for you to follow. The current tests requiring preparation are: Blood Test Safety Information, Faecal Fat Tests, Faecal Occult Blood Tests, Faeces for Culture Tests, Fasting Blood Tests, Fertility and Post Vasectomy Tests, Glucose Challenge Gestational Diabtests, Glucose Tolerance 2H Tests, Sputum Tests, Timed Urinary Microalbumin Tests, Urine for Culture Tests, Urine for Cytology or Chemistry Tests, and Urine for H1AA Tests.
