Where do I go to get my blood tests taken?

From Monday October 19,  if your GP, Public Hospital Clinic or Midwife send you for blood tests as normal, please visit one of our 56 collection centres across the Auckland region.   Any patients referred for blood tests by their Private Specialist should visit a Diagnostic Medlab collection centre.

What do I do if I’m too sick to get to a collection centre?

We have a home collection service to visit patients in their homes when it is clinically required. Your GP or specialist will let us know if you are too unwell to visit a collection centre and we will book a home visit for you from one of our mobile phlebotomists. We will have 20 dedicated mobile phlebotomists out every day providing our home collection service.

What collection services will there be outside of normal work hours?

Most of our collection centres are open from 7am to make it more convenient for those having early morning fasting tests or wanting to have their tests done before work.

We have significantly increased the number of centres opening on Saturdays to make it easier for people to get their tests outside work hours. Nine centres in each DHB area will be open on Saturdays and our Carbine Road collection centre will also be open every Sunday (except public holidays) for urgent tests.

View our full list of collection centre locations and opening hours, or call 0508 LABTESTS (0508 522 837) to enquire about the centre nearest you.

Can I get my tissue sample back?

Patient's must alert the laboratory within 7 days of collection if they wish to have their tissue samples returned to them by phoning 0508 LABTESTS. The patient can expect to be notified to collect their tissue from 37-41 Carbine Road within two weeks of the report being issued to their doctor. Formal photo identification, such as a driver's licence or passport, is required before the specimen is released and the patient will be required to complete a consent form. If a patient representative such as a family member is requesting the tissue, then evidence of a relationship to the patient or power of attorney is required.
